J.D. Power has two studies that measure quality in vehicles: the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) and Initial Quality Study (IQS). The Vehicle Dependability Study examines problems of three-year-old cars in segments like engine/transmission, driving quality, audio, communication, entertainment, and navigation. On the other hand, the Initial Quality Study inspects quality after owning the car for 90 days.
